After being found guilty of killing a 5-year-old boy she was watching, a Las Vegas woman was given a life sentence.
The babysitter was charged with the killing of a 5-year-old boy, according to the authorities, after a home security camera saw her kicking the boy in the head after he peed in his pants.
What was the background?
On March 11, Ryan Peralto and his sister were being cared for by Laurren J. Courtney, 22, while their parents were at work, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Ryan’s father received a call from Courtney informing him that the child was not doing well.
According to the sources, when medical personnel inspected Ryan’s wounds, they discovered a shattered spleen, a brain bleed, and a cracked skull.
Due to severe force injuries to his head, chest, and abdomen, the Clark County Coroner’s Office determined that his cause of death was a homicide.
After Ryan’s sister informed her father that Courtney had harmed Ryan, Kaiea Peralto said he installed home security cameras.
The video footage showed her severely abusing the toddler for a couple of minutes.
Courtney is seen bringing the young child into a restroom at one point in the video, after which she kneels down, screams at him while he lies limp, and kicks his head.
After a few minutes, Courtney turned on the shower and walked out of the room as the youngster cried and screamed.
Ryan Peralto, 5, died the following day, and Courtney was detained in March 2021 for his death.
